# AI credits

AI credits are used by RShift AI, model calls, generation jobs, and AI steps inside automations. Different models and tasks consume different amounts.

## Credit states

- `healthy`: enough credits are available.
- `low`: credits are low; review usage or top up.
- `empty`: AI-related capabilities may pause.
- `unknown`: RShift cannot read the balance at the moment.

## Top up

Open billing and choose to purchase credits. The purchase goes through the payment provider and lands as a credit grant in the workspace.
