# Write a new piece

Compose is where a new piece starts. Describe the goal, audience, and channel; RShift drafts using workspace knowledge.

## Steps

1. Open Content and choose Compose.
2. Name the deliverable and the audience.
3. Add the source facts the piece must use.
4. Generate, then edit in place.
5. Save to the library when the piece is ready to reuse or schedule.

> **Note**
>
> Drafts stay private to the workspace until you publish them to a channel. Saving to the library does not publish anything.
