# Alerts

Alerts turn a monitoring observation into something you can act on. They fire on the conditions you define rather than on every observation.

## Configure

- The condition: a spike, a threshold, or a specific event.
- The severity.
- Who should be notified.

Alerts are recorded so you can see what fired and when, even after you have read the notification.
