# Skills

Skills are reusable, on-demand workflows. Package focused instructions, playbooks, and checklists once, and RShift applies the matching skill when the task calls for it.

## When to use a skill

- A task repeats with the same standards.
- A process has required steps or checks.
- Different people need to produce the same shape of output.

## How skills work

A skill declares when it applies and what it should do. When a request matches, RShift loads the skill into the run so the output follows it. Skills are workspace-scoped and versioned.
