# Approvals and governance

Approvals gate actions that are expensive, public, or hard to undo. See [Approvals in Publish](/publish/approvals/) for the publishing case; the same model applies to spend changes and admin-only operations.

Approvers see the exact action and target before they approve, and RShift records who approved what and when.
