RShift Sites verifies your status on [lovable.dev/students](https://lovable.dev/students) by checking the domain of your account's email address (the part after the @) against a list of academic institutions. Verification is available only to workspaces on the Free plan, and each person can use the discount once. **Sign in with your academic email** Create your RShift Sites account with your institution's email address, or sign in to the account that already uses it. RShift Sites verifies the email address your account is registered with, and that address cannot be changed. If your existing account uses a personal email, create a new account with your academic email. See the tip below for moving your projects into the new account's workspace. **Verify your status** Open [lovable.dev/students](https://lovable.dev/students) and select **Verify student status**. Choose **Student** or **Teacher**, select **Next**, answer the short questions about your studies or teaching, confirm your status, and select **Verify Status Now**. **Subscribe to Pro for Students** After verification, the same dialog shows the **Pro for Students** plan at the discounted price. The plan name also covers verified teachers. Select **Upgrade** and complete checkout. To return to the plan later, select **Get your discount** on [lovable.dev/students](https://lovable.dev/students). Your verification stays valid for 12 months, so subscribe within that time. The discount then applies for up to 12 months from the start of your subscription, or until you cancel. RShift Sites does not offer the discount again after you cancel. The discount has these limits: * It applies only to the Pro plan with 100 credits per month, billed monthly. Higher Pro credit tiers, annual billing, and other plans are not available with the discount. * Credit top-ups are charged at standard prices. * The discount is tied to the account that verified and cannot be transferred to another account or person. > **Note** > > **My institution's email domain is not recognized** > > If the verification dialog shows **Invalid email**, either your address is a personal one, which RShift Sites cannot verify, or your institution's domain is not on the list yet. For an institution domain, select **Why did this happen?** and then **Request review**. RShift Sites reviews requested domains and adds eligible institutions to the list. If RShift Sites adds yours, verify again from [lovable.dev/students](https://lovable.dev/students). > **Tip** > > If your projects are in a workspace owned by an account with a personal email, verify with a new account that uses your academic email and subscribe there. Then invite your personal account to the new workspace, because you can move a project only between workspaces you belong to. Signed in as your personal account, select **Move workspace** in each project's settings to move the project there. See [Move a project to another workspace](/sites/features/projects/settings/#move-a-project-to-another-workspace). ## Manage your subscription Go to [Plans & credit usage](https://lovable.dev/settings/billing) (**Settings → Plans & credit usage**) to manage your subscription, billing information, payment method, and invoices. Coupon codes are applied at checkout when you upgrade. To check which plan your workspace is on, or whether a new subscription has activated, you can also [ask RShift Sites in the project chat](/sites/introduction/credits-and-usage/#tracking-credit-usage). You can change your plan only in **Plans & credit usage**. ### Upgrade your subscription tier If you consistently run out of subscription credits before your renewal date, upgrading is usually more cost-effective than repeated top-ups. For one-time top-ups, auto top-up, and how credits are spent, see [Credits and usage](/sites/introduction/credits-and-usage/). To upgrade: 1. Go to **Settings → Plans & credit usage**. 2. Choose your desired credit amount from the credits per month dropdown. 3. Select **Upgrade**. 4. Complete the upgrade in the Stripe portal. > **Note** > > When you upgrade to a higher credit allocation, you do not receive a full new grant immediately. Your monthly allocation is updated, and you receive the difference. For example, upgrading from 100 credits to 200 credits adds 100 credits, not 200. Your existing unused credits keep their original expiry date. ### Downgrade your subscription tier Use these steps to move to a lower paid tier on the same plan. To move to the Free plan instead, see [Cancel your subscription](#cancel-your-subscription). To downgrade to a lower paid tier: 1. Go to **Settings → Plans & credit usage**. 2. Choose your desired credit amount from the credits per month dropdown. 3. Select **Downgrade**. 4. Complete the downgrade in RShift Sites and then in the Stripe portal. Your current plan remains active until the end of the current billing period. > **Note** > > **Downgrading between paid tiers keeps your existing credits** > > When you downgrade to a lower paid tier, including from Business to Pro, your unused monthly plan credits and rollover credits stay available until their original expiry date. Your new monthly credit allocation applies from your next billing period. > **Note** > > **Downgrading to Free freezes subscription credits** > > If you downgrade to the Free plan, unexpired credits granted through your paid subscription cannot be used while your workspace is on Free. This includes monthly plan credits and rollover credits. > > If you upgrade to a paid plan again before those credits expire, you can continue using them until their original expiry date. > > Top-up credits you purchased while subscribed and any bonus credits can still be used on Free until they expire. ### What stops working when you downgrade When your workspace moves to a lower plan, features that are not included in the new plan stop working. Examples include: * **Scheduled security scans** and **scheduled data exports** (Enterprise) stop running. Stopped scans no longer use credits. * **Verified email sign-up** (Business and Enterprise) stops automatically adding new sign-ups to your workspace. Existing members keep their access. * **Announcement banners** (Business and Enterprise) stop showing to workspace members. * **Publishing to your workspace** (Business and Enterprise): an app that is published to workspace members or to a custom audience stays live, but RShift Sites does not publish new changes to it until you change its website access to public or upgrade again. See [What happens to my published app if I downgrade or cancel my plan?](/sites/features/publish/#what-happens-to-my-published-app-if-i-downgrade-or-cancel-my-plan). * **Hiding the RShift Sites badge** (paid plans): if you hid the **Edit with RShift Sites** badge on a published project, your live site keeps it hidden until you publish again. On that next publish, RShift Sites warns you, then brings the badge back and disables the project's **Hide RShift Sites badge** setting. To hide the badge again after upgrading, enable the setting again in **Project settings → Publishing**. For most features, RShift Sites keeps your configuration, so they resume automatically if you upgrade again. Plan-dependent workspace defaults, such as default project visibility and publishing permissions, reset to the new plan's defaults and are not restored by a later upgrade. ### Switch to annual billing You can switch from monthly to annual billing on Pro and Business plans from **Settings → Plans & credit usage**. Annual billing offers a discounted monthly rate and higher rollover limits for unused credits. Monthly plan credits on annual billing are still issued monthly and expire 1 month after the annual billing period ends. 1. Go to **Settings → Plans & credit usage**. 2. Find the **Pro** or **Business** plan card. 3. Enable **Annual**. The plan card updates to show the discounted monthly rate for annual billing. 4. Select the monthly credit amount you want from the credits per month dropdown. 5. Select **Switch to annual** and then confirm the change in checkout. When you switch to annual billing, you are charged for the annual plan at checkout. Monthly plan credits continue to be granted each month. ### Manage billing, payment method, and invoices Go to **Settings → Plans & credit usage** to view upcoming invoices, payment history, and billing information. To update your payment method (for example, to change or add a credit card) or edit billing details, select **Manage** on your plan card. RShift Sites redirects you to the Stripe billing portal, where you can: * Add, replace, or remove a credit card or other payment method. * Change the default payment method used for renewals and top-ups. * Update your billing name, address, and tax details. * Download past invoices and receipts. Payment methods and billing details are stored by Stripe, not in RShift Sites, so this portal is the only place to view or change them. ### Cancel your subscription Canceling your paid subscription moves your workspace to the Free plan. RShift Sites has no separate cancel action and no email address for cancellation requests. You cancel yourself from **Plans & credit usage**. To cancel your subscription: 1. Go to **Settings → Plans & credit usage**. 2. Select **Manage**. 3. In the **Manage plan** dialog, select **Downgrade to free**. 4. After that, your workspace moves to Free. > **Note** > > The credits per month dropdown on the plan card only lists paid tiers, so it cannot be used to move to Free. Use **Manage → Downgrade to free** instead. #### Cancel from your phone The [RShift Sites mobile app](/sites/integrations/lovable-mobile-app/) has no cancel option, so on a phone you cancel in the browser. Open **lovable.dev** in your phone's browser, go to [**Settings → Plans & credit usage**](https://lovable.dev/settings/billing), and follow the same steps. This applies on both iOS and Android. > **Note** > > **Subscribed through the iOS app?** > > Plans purchased inside the iOS app go through the App Store and work differently: each purchase covers one month and does not renew automatically, so you have nothing to cancel. Your plan card in **Settings → Plans & credit usage** shows **Managed by App Store** in place of the **Manage** button, along with the date your plan runs until. When that date passes, your workspace moves to the Free plan on its own, and you are not charged again unless you make a new purchase. > > Because these plans do not renew, they also do not appear under **Settings → \[Your name] → Subscriptions** on your iPhone or iPad. See [RShift Sites mobile app](/sites/integrations/lovable-mobile-app/#buying-credits-and-upgrading-plans-on-mobile) for more on iOS and Android billing differences. ## FAQ **When do plan changes take effect?** Upgrades take effect when the upgrade is completed. If you upgrade to a higher credit allocation, you receive the difference between your previous allocation and your new allocation. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. Your current plan remains active until then. **What happens to my credits if I cancel my subscription?** Your current plan remains active until the end of the current billing period. After that, your workspace moves to the Free plan and your unused monthly plan credits and rollover credits are frozen. You cannot use them on Free, and they are not refunded. If you upgrade again before they expire, you can use them until their original expiry date. For more about credit expiry and rollover behavior, see [Credits and usage](/sites/introduction/credits-and-usage/). **What happens to my unused credits if I switch between paid tiers?** Your unused monthly plan credits and rollover credits stay available until their original expiry date when you move between paid tiers, in either direction. Switching between Pro and Business, or to a different Pro or Business tier, only changes your monthly credit allocation: immediately when you upgrade, and from the next billing period when you downgrade. From there, you can add, replace, or remove a card and change the default payment method used for renewals and top-ups. **Who can I talk to about my plan or billing?** On paid plans, contact the support team through the [support form](https://lovable.dev/support). The support team handles billing issues, refund reviews, and plan questions. On the Free plan, the support form is not available. RShift Sites redirects you to the Stripe billing portal, where you can find past invoices and receipts. **Is there a discount for students and teachers?** Yes. Verified students and teachers get 50% off the Pro plan with 100 credits per month, billed monthly, for up to 12 months. Verify your academic email on [lovable.dev/students](https://lovable.dev/students) while your workspace is on the Free plan, then subscribe to **Pro for Students**. See [Student and teacher discount](#student-and-teacher-discount). ## Troubleshooting **I cannot pay for my subscription. What should I do?** Payment setup may occasionally fail because of an issue with Stripe. Check your payment details and retry. If the problem persists, try a different payment method. **I paid but still do not have access to my plan. What should I do?** First check whether the subscription has come through. Your current plan and subscription status are shown in **Settings → Plans & credit usage**, and you can also [ask RShift Sites in the project chat](/sites/introduction/credits-and-usage/#tracking-credit-usage), for example *Has my subscription activated?* If your plan still has not changed, contact support at [support@lovable.dev](mailto:support@lovable.dev). **I upgraded but have not received credits. What should I do?** You receive additional credits only if you upgrade to a plan or tier with more included credits. If you upgraded and still have not received the additional credits, contact support at [support@lovable.dev](mailto:support@lovable.dev). **I downgraded to Free. Why can't I use some of my credits?** If you downgrade to the Free plan, unexpired credits granted through your paid subscription are frozen. This means you cannot use monthly plan credits or rollover credits while your workspace is on Free. If you upgrade to a paid plan again before those credits expire, you can continue using them until their original expiry date.
